Tarpon Springs High names inaugural Athletic HOF inductees

— Tarpon Springs High’s newest tradition will officially begin Sept. 5 when the school inducts 23 former Spongers into its new Athletic Hall of Fame.

The inaugural class of players and coaches will be honored at halftime of Tarpon Springs’ Week 2 football game against Osceola.

Spongers from the 1940s through the 2000s comprise the list of 23 inductees. The sport represented most prominently is football, with 13 selections, followed by soccer (4) and volleyball (3). Baseball, basketball and wrestling each have one honoree.
