Rodrigues helped set up much of Tarpon Springs’ offense during its run to a District 3A-10 championship. He assisted on four total goals and scored one himself in the Spongers’ 4-1 semifinal win over Lakewood.
Tarpon Springs has waited a long time but its boys soccer team is headed into the postseason for the first time since 1997. Last Friday’s 2-0 win over Dunedin, with Rodrigues assisting on both goals, allows the Spongers to go into the Class 3A tournament as district champions.
“It definitely is nice to be back where we used to be.” – Tarpon Springs coach George Hourdas on the Spongers’ playoff return.
