After pitching Sunlake to victory in three straight playoff games, Castillo and the Seahawks’ run ended against Jesuit in the state semifinals. The senior went all seven innings again, surrendering only five hits and three runs (one earned).
Castillo finished his season with a 1.59 ERA and 100 strikeouts over 83 1/3 innings. He also hit .343, scored 33 runs and drove in 15.
The Seahawks’ go-to hurler tossed about 40 percent of their total innings this season. As with his 83 1/3 total innings, Castillo was among Pasco County’s top players in a number of statistical categories.
