Coach of the Year

Andy Medders, Fivay

In just three years, Medders has made the Fivay program a household name at the state tournament. In one of the most competitive seasons in Pasco County, Medders' Falcons edged out their Pasco county counterparts in the postseason. At the SAC tournament, just a few points separated Fivay, Pasco, River Ridge, and Gulf. The Falcons did just enough in the finals to pull off their second consecutive conference title. Three weeks later, Fivay finished seventh at the state tournament, just ahead of Pasco (eighth) and Gulf (11th). Medders led the Falcons to a 26-5 dual record and produced four state placers. Fivay was also champions of the Fivay Saturday Slam and the Romans IBT tournaments.

About The Team

The Tribune's All-Pasco County wrestling team was selected by correspondent Steven Campbell based on regular-season and postseason performances. The Sunshine Athletic Conference team selected by the county's head coaches was strongly considered. The Player of the Year will be announced at the end of the school year.
