Pinellas School District seeking Elite Educators

Published:

College students hoping to one day command a Pinellas County public school classroom met at St. Petersburg College Tarpon Campus on Thursday to learn about the school district’s new Elite Educator Program.

The program, a collaborative project with the school district and SPC, hopes to persuade college students on track to receive a degree in elementary education to commit to working in a Pinellas County school after graduation.

The program emphasizes science, reading, technology, math, child development and skills needed to teach kids with disabilities or who are learning English. The students would enter a paid internship in a Pinellas classroom that could lead to employment once they graduate.

Another open house is scheduled for 5:30-7 p.m. July 31 in the Ethics and Social Sciences Building, Room 104, at SPC Clearwater Campus, 2465 Drew St.
