A man who sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl with the help of a woman was sentenced today to more than 36 years in prison, Pinellas Park police said.
Zachary Hulsey, 22, held the victim at knifepoint and repeatedly sexually battered her for several hours in October 2012. He threatened to kill the victim if she resisted, police said.
Brettany Hamlin, 22, held the victim down and attempted to console her during the assault. She did not try to stop it, however, police said.
Hulsey was arrested and charged with false imprisonment, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, three counts of sexual battery on a child and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Today, police said Circuit Court Judge Cynthia Newton sentenced Hulsey to 437.4 months in prison with a minimum mandatory term of 25 years. In addition, Hulsey has been designated a violent felony sexual predator.
Hamlin was arrested and charged with false imprisonment. She was sentenced on June 2013 to four years in state prison after pleading guilty.
