Lottery suspends 11 retailers amid fraud probe

Published:

– The Florida Lottery has suspended 11 retailers from selling game tickets as part of an ongoing fraud investigation.

Officials announced Thursday all lottery equipment was being removed and game terminals shut off at each store. The suspensions are temporary while the Florida Lottery continues its investigation.

The retailers include seven stores in the Tampa Bay area. The other four were scattered across different regions of the state — in Williston, Fort Pierce, Miami and Ocala.

The local stores are: Rainbow Food Mart, 8592 49th St., Pinellas Park; Park Street Gas Kwick, 5399 Park St. N., St. Petersburg; 49 Street Mobil, 825 49th St. N., St. Petersburg; Central Avenue Exxon, 5800 Central Ave., St. Petersburg; Clearwater Sunoco, 11600 U.S. 19 N., Clearwater; Mini Market, 7875 137th St., Seminole; and Bryan Dairy Rally, 7690 Bryan Dairy Road, Largo.

Authorities say their investigation determined fraudulent activity involving the sale or redemption of Lottery tickets may have taken place at the sites.
