TARPON SPRINGS — Florida Hospital North Pinellas plans to again light up the night Thursday.
The 27th annual Lights of Love Celebration will take place in front of the hospital at 6:30 p.m.
Attendees to the event are invited to commemorate lost loved ones during the holiday season by purchasing a special ornament to then hang from the Lights of Love tree.
“It’s a nice evening,” said the hospital’s director of marketing and public relations, Jennifer Candler. “It’s not very long but it’s a good way for people to get out and enjoy the holidays and remember their loved ones.”
The event is a fundraiser for the hospital’s auxiliary and volunteer services. “Volunteers donate generously not only with their time but with their own money every year, which is really amazing,” Candler said.
An addition returning from last year is the salute to veterans and service members. A full honor guard ceremony will be led by VFW Holiday Post No. 10167.
Organizers will officially light a large pine tree standing in front of the hospital and other portions of the facility will be draped with lights.
Guests will be treated to complementary hot cocoa and cookies, while youth choirs from Tarpon Springs Elementary School and New Port Richey Adventist Christian Academy will sing holiday songs.
Santa Claus will make an appearance and pose for photographs.
The purchased ornaments, for loved ones or veterans, will be hung on a tree inside the hospital lobby.
For people who cannot attend but would still like to buy an ornament or donate to the Florida Hospital Auxiliary, call (727) 942-5072.
