PALM HARBOR — Christine Longley expected Florida Hospital North Pinellas’ latest Healthy Happenings event to attract a crowd.

Maybe 500, or even 400, would be a solid, successful draw, the hospital’s community outreach and volunteer services manager thought.

Apparently that was a low-ball estimate.

As of Monday afternoon, 842 people are registered to show up at Oct. 30’s Healthy Happenings event, “Girl Talk: Everything You Wanted to Know But Were Afraid to Ask.”

“I really thought about 500 would be a great crowd,” Longley said of the first-of-its-kind event, which will be held at Innisbrook Golf Resort and Spa’s Inverness Hall. “But we’re excited about this turnout because it’s just going to be such a fantastic event.”

“Girl Talk” is a free opportunity for women of all ages to spend an evening focusing on female health issues.

A panel of five physicians, including specialists in gynecology, geriatrics and reconstructive surgery, will be on hand to lead a question-and-answer session that follows a sit-down dinner.

Prior to the dinner and panel discussion, guests are invited to spend 5–6:30 p.m. getting pampered by area salons and other health and beauty related businesses with booths set up on site.

Free health screenings are also available before dinner.

Men are welcome to attend, as many are scheduled to accompany their spouses or loved ones.

Reservations are required and can still be made by calling (727) 943-3600.

The late-October gathering is one of the larger periodic events in the hospital’s Healthy Happenings series, which focus on a wide range of topics age groups.
