Family offers $25k reward in Tarpon physician’s death

Published:

— The family of slain physician Steven Schwartz is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of his killer, Tarpon Springs police said Tuesday.

Schwartz, 74, was found dead on May 28 at his $1.6 million waterfront mansion at 1310 Belcher Drive.

Schwartz’s family members have established a $25,000 trust for the reward.

“The reward is being offered solely by the family, and the Tarpon Springs Police Department is not a party to the reward,” the agency said in a prepared statement. The statement reiterated that evidence in the doctor’s death reveals it was not a random act of violence, and residents have no reason to fear for their safety.

Previously, Crime Stoppers offered a $1,000 reward for such information.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Detective John Diebel of the Tarpon Springs Police Department at (727) 938-2849, or by email at jdiebel@tspd.us.
