— Principals have been named for two East Pasco elementary schools that had openings because of retirements.

Claudia Steinacker, an assistant principal at Connerton Elementary, will be the new principal at Cox Elementary in Dade City, and Christina Twardosz, an assistant principal at Wesley Chapel Elementary, will be principal at Centennial Elementary, south of Dade City.

The Pasco County School Board approved the appointments Tuesday. Both will start their new jobs July 1.

Steinacker, who succeeds Yvonne Reins, began her career in 1990 as a teacher at Lacoochee Elementary. She also has taught at Mary Giella Elementary in Shady Hills and Northwest Elementary in Hudson.

In 2007, she became assistant principal at Gulfside Elementary in Holiday. Three years later she transferred to Odessa Elementary, and in 2012 she transferred again to her current assistant principal job at Connerton.

Steinacker holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of South Florida.

Twardosz, who succeeds Cynthia Harper at Centennial, came to the Pasco County school district in 1994 as a teacher at Northwest Elementary. She also taught at Shady Hills Elementary, Denham Oaks Elementary and West Zephyrhills Elementary before becoming assistant principal at Wesley Chapel Elementary in 2007.

Twardosz holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Illinois State University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Saint Leo University.
