NEW PORT RICHEY — The Volunteer Way food bank announced winners from the recent CANstruction design/build competition that benefits the food bank to feed needy residents who might otherwise go hungry.
Participants had to design and then build giant structures made entirely out of canned food.
Their creations were on display for a week at West Pasco Government Center.
The goal of the sixth-annual event was not only to entertain, but also to inspire the collection of canned goods as a food drive to feed the hungry, Martha O’Brien explained as assistant CEO of The Volunteer Way.
After the competition, sculptures are deconstructed and all the canned food given to The Volunteer Way’s food pantry.
