It takes a lot to keep the wheels of government turning, some Seven Springs Middle School students learned this week.

Heather Grimes, Pasco assistant county administrator for internal services, ushered the large group of seventh-graders in civics classes on part of their tour of the West Pasco Government Center.

Students got to see closeup a grader for construction sites, fire trucks and other county vehicles parked in front of the government center. The huge tires on the grader are almost as tall as some of the students.

The seventh-graders also visited courtrooms, Grimes said.

They participated in a mock voting exercise courtesy of Supervisor of Elections Brian Corley.

The students also got to meet Tax Collector Mike Fasano and Sheriff Chris Nocco during the tour.
