PEDC announces award nominees for 2013 banquet

LUTZ - The Pasco Economic Development Council has announced the nominees for its 2013 Industry of the Year Awards. The winners will be announced Sept. 4 at the annual banquet.PEDC selects winners in four categories - manufacturing, service, technology and nonprofit groups - explained Summer Martin, the marketing events coordinator for PEDC.Nominees need to exhibit exemplary growth in technology, innovation, job creation, capital investment and community service, Martin elaborated in a press release. Each year, more than 600 business and community leaders attend the banquet to witness the awards.The 25 companies vying this year are: Adams Arms, Allcraft Marine, BallywhoSocial, Big Storm Brewery Co., Communication Concepts, Crown Community Development, Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel, Florida Hospital Zephyrhills, Goin Postal Franchise Corp., JTD Enterprises, The Shops at Wiregrass, Lifedash, Lightport, Marlin CNG Services, MB2x, Meares Plumbing and MedFleet.Also in the running are Pasco-Hernando Community College, RAMM Recycling Services, Sign-A-Rama of New Tampa, Symphonic Distribution, SB Manufacturing LLC, SEL Engineering Services, Sunshine Christian Homes and United Way of Pasco County.The nominees are interviewed by members of the PEDC award committee using a specific grading scale to determine scores, Martin said.PEDC has been attracting businesses and creating jobs in Pasco County for 27 years. The 2013 Appreciation Banquet will take place 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Saddlebrook Resort, in Wesley Chapel.The event is regarded as the premier business gathering in Pasco County that includes a business trade show prior to the banquet.
