HUDSON — An assistant plant manager at Northwest Elementary School faces a charge of sexual battery on a 14-year-old girl, Pasco County Sheriff’s Office records show.
Todd Allen Swearingen, 50, of 11036 Tenoaks Drive, Hudson, was arrested Monday morning, records show.
The girl told investigators that Swearingen, a custodian at the school, had sex with her dozens of times over a three-week period last month at his residence. She said he would offer to smoke marijuana with her before having sex, records show.
Swearingen does not have a criminal history in Pasco, records show.
Schools Superintendent Kurt Browning will recommend that Swearingen be suspended without pay during Tuesday’s school board meeting, district spokeswoman Linda Cobbe said.
Swearingen has worked for the school district since last April. Every school district employee is subject to an FBI background check before they are hired, Cobbe said.
“These charges are unusually serious,” she said. “We will either sit back and wait until the charges are resolved or we might go for a termination before that.”
