Pasco court clerk employee faces child porn charge

Published:

An employee with the Pasco County Clerk of Courts Office was suspended without pay after his arrest Tuesday on a child pornography charge.

Pasco sheriff’s deputies said Andrew Paul Staight, 23, of Port Richey, faces one count of transmission of child pornography.

Deputies, acting on a tip from Google that included Staight’s IP address, used a warrant to enter his home and search his laptop, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said.

Three videos containing child porn were found, the sheriff’s office said.

Staight remains in custody in the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center, deputies said.

“We’re definitely shocked over the whole news of that arrest,” said Steven Rosales, chief administrative officer with the clerk’s office.

He said Straight initially was hired as a mailroom driver with the office, but had been working as a records clerk. Rosales said the office has been cooperating with the sheriff’s investigation and wants to “make sure we safeguard the integrity of our office and maintain the public’s trust.”
