Main Street Blast kicks off Independence Day celebrations

NEW PORT RICHEY - Despite intermittent rain, the show must go on, organizers of Friendly KIAFest Main Street Blast decided.Intrepid spectators kept umbrellas handy, but they didn't let the weather dampen their spirits. The weather cleared as they listened to bands and chowed down on many tasty treats from vendors at Sims Park in downtown New Port Richey.Cody Camp Band helped open festivities with the addition of Friday evening concerts this year. On Saturday, the fireworks show capped a full day of activities. Main Street Blast is the opening act for Independence Day celebrations that continue Thursday with a fireworks show by the city of Port Richey.
