It takes a village to save a pet, Pasco officials say

Published:

Tails could be wagging Saturday if dogs and cats find homes during Family Fun Day.

The event will take place from noon until 4 p.m. Saturday at the Pasco County Animal Services adoption center in Land O’ Lakes.

Adoption specials will include $35 fee for dogs and $15 for cats to encourage spectators to take home a pet.

Commissioner Pat Mulieri hopes to pull out all the stops for the festivities at 19640 Dogpatch Lane.

Besides plenty of cute critters, the event also will feature a game wheel and prizes.

A bounce house is just one part of many activities for children, who also can get face painting and balloon animals. Clowns will entertain.

A canine clown parade is in the works as well.

Free children’s books will explain how to be a responsible pet owner.

A Free Way of vendors will offer giveaways, food, treats, drinks and more.

People can learn more about the county’s Tail Wagon mobile pet adoption van which will be parked at the event. The Tail Wagon crew regularly drives to West Pasco community events. For instance, the pet adoption van will stop at Pet Smart from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the Trinity store, at 2920 Little Road.

On top of that, Mulierisaid, Chartic “Chuck” Darby has pledged to stop by from noon until 1:30 p.m. Defensive tackle Darby was a member of the Super Bowl-winning Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2002-2203 squad.
