A 49-year-old woman running across U.S. 19 in Palm Harbor was struck by a car and killed Friday morning, troopers said.
Rhonda Angelica Dreher, of Holiday, was taken to Mease Countryside Hospital, where she died from injuries sustained in the collision.
The incident occurred about 6 a.m. in the northbound lane of U.S. 19, just north of Tampa Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
A 2006 Toyota Corolla, driven by Michael Paul Marinin, was traveling in the outside lane and the woman was in the grass median. The woman ran across the northbound lanes into the path of the Toyota, a highway patrol report said.
Marinin, 38, of Tarpon Springs, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, the report said.
