Fright nights at Starkey Park provide thrills and chills

Published:

NEW PORT RICHEY — Visitors entering Starkey Wilderness Park last Friday and Saturday nights were in for a hair-raising experience.

It proved they were in the right place for some spine-tingling chills as Pasco County parks volunteers staged Scream Acres.

Oh sure — other Halloween-themed events might have a haunted house. But Scream Acres guests had to survive heart-stopping sights in eight haunted houses.

Making fright night come alive, so to speak, were volunteer actors such as Maureen Perez, Ala Rutherford, Rich Perez, Thomas Mazzella, Courtney Andrews, Tina Colontonio and many more.

One area family participated together. Michael and Terry Chernisky were part of Zombies Survival Camp, along with their 12-year-old son, also named Michael.

Boy Scout Troop 77 of New Port Richey provided one of the eight spooky exhibits.
