Four charged in gas siphoning from Odessa U-Haul

Published:

Two weeks after puncturing the gas tank of a U-Haul truck in Odessa and siphoning roughly $60 worth of gas, four suspects were arrested, the Pasco sheriff’s office said.

Ryean Lee Roberts, 21, of 1827 Carillton Place, was arrested Wednesday, while Christopher Albritton, 18, of 15701 Race Track Road, Michael Daniel Jamison, 22, of 14339 Tifton Lane, and a 17-year-old male – all of Odessa – were arrested Friday. Each is charged with criminal mischief of more than $1,000.

On Feb. 27, Roberts drove her 2003 Saturn Vue to Ageless Group Inc. U-Haul Rental Center, 2045 Gunn Highway in Odessa, and parked next to a 17-foot U-Haul truck, which was parked along the roadway, arrest reports said.

Jamison and the 17-year-old male punctured the truck’s tank and collected the gas, while Albritton acted as a lookout, according to deputies.

The group collected about 18 gallons of gas in several containers and loaded them into the Saturn and left.

The stolen gas was used to fill up other cars, the report said.

The gas tank could not be repaired and had to be replaced for $2,000, the truck’s owner told investigators.

Roberts, also charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia, was released Saturday after posting a $4,150 bond.

Albritton, who is also charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, and Jamison, who is also charged with dealing in stolen property, false verification of ownership and grand theft of a motor vehicle, remain in the Land O’ Lakes jail. Bond for Albritton is $7,000, while bond for Jamison is $22,000.

The 17-year-old is not being named because he’s a juvenile.
