Dogs make big splash at NPR pool

Suncoast News staff report

NEW PORT RICHEY — Every dog has his day, as the Poochie Paddle demonstrated Sunday at the kiddie pool of New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center.

More than 50 dogs of all sizes took to the water as their owners looked on to watch the fun.

Big dogs making a splash included Ziggy, a 3-year old Golden Retriever, belonging to Kim and Frank Molina of New Port Richey; Nikita, an 8-year-old German Shepherd belonging to Wendy Putonti of New Port Richey; and 4-year old Snickers, belonging to Elaine Smith, the city’s parks and recreation director.

Smaller dogs sometimes waited impatiently for their turn. They included Goldie, a 9-month old Corgi belonging to Robin and Tom Hunter of Oldsmar, and Bella, 2, a Jack Russell and poodle mix.
