Charter school to hold first board meeting

Published:

WESLEY CHAPEL — Pepin Academies, a charter school that plans to open in Pasco County in August 2014, will hold its first board of directors meeting at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Shops at Wiregrass.

The meeting will be on the second floor of the Macy’s department store, in the human resources and executive office, at 2230 Bruce B. Downs Blvd.

The Pasco County School Board approved the school’s application last month. Pepin Academies plans to target students with learning disabilities.

Charter schools are public schools but are privately operated with oversight from the school district. They use taxpayer dollars so they are not allowed to charge tuition.

Pepin Academies has operated a charter school in Hillsborough County since 1998 and recently added a campus in Riverview.
