NEW PORT RICHEY — With uneven economic recovery in the region, Business Development Week organizers believe the 2014 event will provide plenty of insights.
Many BDW events will be free and open to the public Jan. 27-31, according to the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce.
In addition, a business expo will preview the main event on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Gulf View Square mall.
Anchoring BDW will be the kickoff luncheon 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, at Spartan Manor, 6121 Massachusetts Ave., New Port Richey. Early registration costs $30 or $35 after Jan. 17. Call (727) 842-7651 about reservations for all events.
Motivational speaker Robert Stevenson willpresent “You've Got to Make Them Say WOW!” He has dozens of corporate clients on the roster of Seeking Excellence Inc., his firm based in Clearwater.
Stevenson said he will talk about dispelling notions that the customer is always right. Sometimes you must divine what the customer might really want before the customer realizes it.
On Monday evening, Jan. 27, customer service remains in the spotlight as Publix and Team Farell executives share their philosophy 6-7:30 p.m. at the New Port Richey Public Library, 5939 Main St.
On Tuesday, Jan. 28, a luncheon panel will tackle “Decoding the Health Care Act” at noon at the west campus of Pasco-Hernando Community College, 10230 Ridge Road. Box lunch costs $10 with reservations due Jan. 22.
Among the scheduled panelists will be Michael Yungmann, the new president of Morton Plant North Bay Hospital, in New Port Richey.
Marchman Technical Education Center, 7825 Campus Drive, New Port Richey, will serve as the backdrop for events Wednesday, Jan. 29.
Shawn Foster, the Southern Strategy Group lobbyist for Pasco County, will talk about “The Art of Making a Great First Impression” for the Education Day luncheon at noon. Cost is $12 with reservations due Jan. 24.
Among highlights for Thursday, Jan. 30, will be the Successful Women in Business Panel at noon at West Pasco Board of Realtors, 5409 Sunset Road, New Port Richey. The box lunch costs $10, with reservations due Jan. 24.
Friday, Jan. 31, will feature the Pasco Economic Development Luncheon at 11 a.m. at Tampa Bay Golf and Country Club, 10641 Old Tampa Road, San Antonio.
John Jung, executive director of BB&T Capital Markets, will explore where trends could lead this year.
