NEW PORT RICHEY — A female bartender is accused of pushing an 84-year-old woman to the ground and dragging her by the arm across a floor after the elderly woman complained of rude treatment, a New Port Richey Police Department arrest report said.

The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. on June 2 at Eagles Club, 5446 Leisure Lane, the report said.

After the victim’s boyfriend had complained to a live band that their music was too loud, bartender Patricia Darlene Smith, 57, of 10902 Leon St., told the couple that all complaints go through the bartender “when trustees are not present,” the report said.

When the couple went to leave, the elderly woman uttered a profanity at Smith, implying that Smith was rude, the report said.

The elderly woman said that Smith met her at the exit door, and pushed her through it, the report said. Smith is then accused of grabbing the victim by the right arm and dragging her across the front lobby floor, causing large lacerations to both of the victim’s arms and possibly a shoulder injury, the report said.

The victim’s boyfriend separated the women, the report said.

Smith told investigators that she did not push or drag the victim, and that the elderly woman had slapped her in the face. Video surveillance footage supported the victim’s claims, the report said.

Smith was arrested Friday and charged with aggravated assault on a person over 65. She was released from the Land O’ Lakes Jail on Saturday after posting $5,000 bail, records show.
