Arrest made in slaying Sunday at Hudson house

Published:

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said an arrested has been made in the slaying of a man at his Hudson home, which had been associated with the sale of illegal drugs.

Matthew Walter Mebane, 21, faces a first-degree murder charge in Sunday’s shooting death of Francis Soto, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday.

Mebane was booked at the Pasco County Jail with no bail.

Soto, 26, was found shot inside his home at 12206 Bear Claw Loop about 8 p.m. Sunday. He died a short time later from his wounds, deputies said.

Authorities said the home had been linked to previous illegal drug sales.

On Monday, Sheriff Chris Nocco said Soto had an affiliation with the Juggalos, a group affiliated with the “horrorcore” hip-hop music duo Insane Clown Posse. Juggalos fans wear face paint and well-worn clothes, and the FBI has labeled some as gang members.

Nocco affiliated Soto with the gang version of the group.
