Police ID man fatally stabbed at St. Pete motel

Published:

Investigators on Friday identified a man stabbed to death in a St. Petersburg motel room as 19-year-old Abdelaziz Mohamad Baker Ahmad.

Ahmad, whose last known address was 1130 Tyrone Court N., St. Petersburg, was a registered guest at the Candelight Inn, where his body was found Thursday morning by a motel employee, police said.

David Charles Willey, 21, faces a first-degree murder charge in Ahmad’s death, although no motive has been established, police said.

Detectives said Willey met with Ahmad at the motel, 3405 34th St. N., accompanied him to his room and stabbed him several times in the upper body with a knife. Security cameras show Willey and Ahmad entering the room together and Willey leaving alone, police said. Investigators said a knife was recovered at the scene.

Police have not determined the relationship between the men.

Willey, whose last known address was 5413 Blue Coral Way, New Port Richey, was being held at the Pinellas County Jail with no bail set, according to jail records.
