A 2-year-old girl who was found in a backyard swimming pool after apparently crawling through a pet door has died, Pinellas Park police said.

Elienna Depasquale died about 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning, investigators said.

Elienna was not responsive when she was pulled from the pool at her home, 6421 69th Ave. N., about 4:30 p.m. Friday, police said. She was floating in the water when a family member found her, officials said.

She had been unconscious at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, officials said.

"It is believed the child entered the pool after crawling through an unlocked pet access door," police Sgt. Brian Unmisig said in a news release.

This case remains under investigation, but charges are not expected.
