Pasco woman accused of stealing debit card

PORT RICHEY - A 43-year-old woman faces charges that she stole $7,500 from a disabled woman by racking up charges on the older woman's checking account after intercepting a new debit card that came in the mail, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office reported.Erika Ann Hein of 5941 Madison St., New Port Richey, was arrested Friday afternoon on charges of scheme to defraud and grand theft, an arrest report said. She was taken to the Land O' Lakes Jail where she was being held with bail set at $15,000.The crime was reported by the victim's son, who has power of attorney for his mother and had opened a joint checking account with her, the report said. The arrest report did not describe the nature of the woman's disability. Hein was living at the son's residence in Port Richey for a short period and took the card and PIN information without his knowledge when it arrived in the mail, the report said.Hein reportedly used the card 83 times from the end of April to May 28, making purchases that totalled $7,541.08, the report said.
