The body of a New Port Richey man was found inside an anchored boat early Monday morning in the Gulf of Mexico, according to Pasco authorities.

The body of Craig Carmichael, 48, was inside a vessel anchored about one mile from shore on a sand bar west of Durney Key, according to the Port Richey Police Department.

There was no indication of foul play.

The U.S. Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission received calls regarding a boat that was overdue. An FWC marine unit found the boat at 4:30 a.m. Monday in the Gulf of Mexico with Carmichael inside.

The Port Richey Police Department is now conducting the death investigation. An exact cause of death is pending an autopsy from the Pasco-Pinellas Medical Examiner’s Office.
