The Volunteer Way Hunger Relief charity had a lot to be thankful about this Thanksgiving. We live in the greatest country in the world, and God has blessed the United States.
We have been going through a very difficult time, with our economy being in a recession. More people are using our food bank, food pantry and soup kitchen to feed their families.
What I like about our country is when everything gets tough, people stick together and help each other. This year we had a few of our resources close down, which made it very difficult to be able to give out the amount of turkeys that we had requests for. Then we started to get phone calls from many of the community's churches, businesses and residents that wanted to help us assist the many hungry people of our community.
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 79 and Sons of the American Legion Squadron 79 donated 18 boxes of food.
Where else but America do people, regardless of their beliefs, come together in one common cause to help less fortunate people? We can all learn from this example. Thanks to all who came forward to help Pasco people in need. We are truly a community of "People Helping People."
