HUDSON - In a sleepy little town in Florida, the town council has decided to cancel Christmas. It's up to Santa and his elves to journey from the North Pole to rekindle the holiday spirit in Christmas, Florida.Published: November 24, 2012
"A Show Palace Christmas," written and directed by Jason Tucker, premiered Nov. 22 at the Show Palace Dinner Theatre and will run through Dec. 25. Tucker described the original musical comedy as "fun, colorful and cheerful."
"We really wanted to make sure it was fun for everybody," Tucker said, "not just for adults, not just for kids."
Many of the songs audience members will hear put a twist on classic Christmas songs and carols like "Santa Baby" and "Jingle Bells" that will help move the story plot along, Tucker said.
Rick Kistner, who plays Santa Claus, is being welcomed back for his 17th show at the Show Palace. Many of the cast members have previously performed at the theater in both original and Broadway plays.
Show Palace, at 16128 U.S. 19, has run Christmas shows every year since it opened 15 years ago, said Jennifer Mara, the business manager for Show Palace Entertainment.
"Everyone is guaranteed to have a good time," Tucker said. "If they have a problem with lots of color, laughing, singing and dancing, they may not enjoy themselves."
Tickets, $52.97 per person, include dinner and the show. Package deals will be available for Saturday, Dec. 1, and Friday, Dec. 7. They will include two adult tickets and two child tickets for $75.
Tickets can be purchased by calling the box office at (727) 863-7949.
