DNA evidence collected from a 2009 Clearwater bank robbery led to an arrest on Wednesday, police said.

Arris Tayron Williams, 31, was arrested by Largo police in Largo and charged with robbing BB&T, 23684 U.S. 19 North, said Elizabeth Watts, spokeswoman for Clearwater police.

Following the 2009 robbery, Clearwater detectives collected DNA from the scene and placed it into database, Watts said.

Clearwater police were recently notified of a match and worked with Largo police to make an arrest, Watts said.

Williams confessed to Clearwater police, Watts said.
