The names of two women involved in a shooting Monday in a Largo hotel room that left one dead and the other critically wounded were released Tuesday by police.
Police say Bethany June Dunlop, 26, of St. Petersburg, may have shot Lindsey Alexandria Castaneda, 27, to death before turning the gun on herself in a failed suicide attempt.
Dunlop, of Largo, was taken to a hospital and was in critical condition.
Officers were called to the Suburban Extended Stay Hotel, 6550 Ulmerton Road, at 1:37 p.m. by hotel workers.
The employees said the women were staying in one of the rooms and were due to check out Monday, police said. When the women did not check out, hotel employees went to the room and found them inside, police said.
Investigators are still working to determine what led to the shooting but are confident a third party was not involved, Largo police said.
