For those looking for a little holiday cheer, festivity is right around the corner.
Pasco County Parks and Recreation Department will present its 2012 Winter Wonderland Celebration of Lights Dec. 10-15 at Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park.
The community is invited to drive through the park, where cabins and scenes will be decorated with multicolored Christmas lights. For the first time, the blinking lights will be synced in time to popular holiday music.
Visitors will be greeted by 4-by-4-foot and 4-by-8-foot plywood cards decorated with Christmas themes by local businesses, students and artists. The cards will be displayed through Jan. 8.
The gates open at 6 p.m. for Celebration of Lights and close at 9 p.m. The fee is $2 a vehicle and visitors can expect it to take about 20 minutes to see all the displays.
Another event, "Christmas Card Lane," organized by the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce, is an annual tradition.
The cards, decorated by local middle and high school students and artists, will be placed around Orange Lake in downtown New Port Richey. Each card will be individually lighted and will feature the local businesses and individuals that sponsored it.
