Man found dead in closed Clearwater gas station

Published:

Clearwater police are investigating the death of a man found Monday in the parking lot of a former gas station at 1840 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd.

The man, who might be homeless, was found dead at 3:43 p.m. by another man who was walking through the area, police said. The cause of death appears to be upper body trauma.

The gas station, which has been closed for a while, is between two fast-food restaurants on Gulf-to-Bay and is just west of Clearwater High School.

There are several agencies on the scene including Clearwater homicide detectives, the Pasco-Pinellas Medical Examiner’s Office and forensics investigators from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
